A graduate of the University of Dallas and a 1987 Rotary Foundation Graduate Scholar to Italy, Julie began making mosaics in 1991. Working in diverse mosaic media she has completed many residential, commercial and public art projects in the US, Mexico and Spain. Well known for her many architectural mosaic installations, her true passion for mosaics is most evident in her fine art sculptures. Julie’s mosaics have been included in many juried shows throughout the US and Italy including the international “Opere del Mondo” juried exhibition as part of the 2011 Ravenna Mosaico Biennial festival. She has been awarded Best 3-D Mosaic in 2011, Juror’s Choice in 2009 and “Members’ Choice” in 2007 in Mosaic Arts International, as well as the international Grand Prize from Orsoni Smalti Veneziani, the Italian glass company. Her work has appeared in national and international publications. A frequent traveller to Italy she leads Mosaic Masterpiece Tours to Rome, Florence, Venice and Ravenna. Julie also plays an active volunteer role in creating public art mosaics with local charitable and educational organizations.
